Registry: Keurig Home Brewing System

If you and/or your fiance love a good cup of coffee (or tea, or cocoa), a Keurig Brewing System is a registry must!

Update: I’ve had this system for about a year now and I still love it and use it everyday.

I just got one recently and I haven’t been this excited about a kitchen gadget in a long time, which is really saying something. It makes great tasting coffee in less than a minute, one cup at a time, using little pods called K-Cups.

The K-Cups come in 190 (!) varieties of decaf and regular coffee, hot chocolate and tea. They have popular brand names, like Newman’s Own, Gloria Jean’s, Caribou Coffee, Celestial Seasonings, and Ghirardelli. (I’m currently obsessed with Timothy’s Decaf Hazelnut and the yummy dark chocolate hot cocoa from Cafe Escapes.)

There are three home systems with various features and price points. I have the Special Edition B60 Brewer ($123.95), which can make three cup sizes depending on your strength preference, 6, 8 or 10 or ounces. It’s really easy to use and clean up. Just put the K-Cup in and push the button. When it’s done, open the top and throw the K-Cup away.

The only drawback is that it’s a bit noisy while it’s brewing.  But so are the other one-cup coffee makers I’ve tried, like Senseo and Tassimo. The Keurig is by far my favorite based on taste and variety of flavors.

The more expensive home models, which range from $169.95 to $299.95, have up to four cup sizes, a larger water reservoir, and Quiet Brew to take care of the noise issue.

Pods can be ordered online for about 59 cents each from the Keurig site, as well as others like OneKup and Great Coffee.
